How do I go back to straight hair after a curly perm?

I have Asian hair. I recently permed it. I like it but I miss my straight hair. Should I get one of those japanese straight perms? Is it the same as getting my hair "relaxed"? Or are they different things? I do NOT want the end result to be flat, pin-straight hair.

Also, my new curly hair requires many products: gel, hairspray, frizz cream, etc. Does using these products damage my hair? HELP!

I would not relax your hair. What is wonderful about perms is that perm solution will remove perm solution.

Which means to get your hair straight again go back to a salon. They usually put you at a sink and work perm solution through your hair and comb your hair for about a half an hour. They will then apply neutralizer. By then your hair should be back to straight.

I never had a "curly" perm. Our perms are relaxers as well.

But i do know that each time after you wash ur hair, if you comb and or brush it out straight instead of using all those products, it will go back straight.

well temporarily, you could get a straight-iron, comb, and some hairspray. iron first, clip up the top layer, tease and spray the roots from the bottom, repeat with top layer of hair. you could get one of those straight/curl irons so then you can the curl feature to make the ends turn up or in a bit.

i've also heard brushing curly-permed hair when it's wet also helps "weaken" the curls, like loosen the perm.

i am native american and i had a perm and what helped my hair was a really good deep conditioner and then instead of just letting it curl after getting out of the shower i just brush in a leave in conditioner and straighten it...perms grow out they dont wash out so i wouldnt use a relaxer unless you absolutely have to ...causes more dry brittle hair... just let it grow out if you dont like...trust me..
