In order to moisturise dry and curly hair, is olive oil put on dry or wet hair , and how long is it

Should olive oil be put on dry or wet hair, and how long should it be left in to effectively restore moisture back to dry and curly hair? Any alternative technique, home made please?

No no no!!!!!!!! Go to a salon and buy an intense moisture conditioning treatment to do at home (no protein).

Reasons not to use olive oil:

-It is very hard to rinse out, it takes a long time to be washed all the way out.

-Oil starts to smell rancid after a few days. Your hair will smell like rancid (rotten) oil because you will not be able to get the oil out.

-My friend did this and had to go to a salon to have a treatment done to get the excess oil out.

-You wouldn't slap a steak on your head to give your hair protein, why would you put olive oil on it to give it moisture?

-Your hair will look greasy and oily for days (and reek)

-You should use appropriate products for appropriate situations: olive oil for salad dressing, great! For hair? No. Conditioning treatment for hair, great! For salad dressing? No.

I wouldn't put olive oil on any hair unless it is specially for hair. I would try alovera extract oil treatment and always on wet hair. You have to wash it first, best with clerifiyng shampoo, then towel dry it, then put the oil on, massage it into your hair and scalp, you can even comb it thru with a wide tooth comb. Put a plastic bag over your hair and 20-30 min. is enough. Then just rinse it off very well. You can also use shampoos and conditioners formulated for premed or curly hair to enhance the look.

Olive oil is fine to put into your hair. It depends on the texture of your hair. For example, if you have fine hair use only a nickel sized amount, for thicker/coarser hair use a quarter sized amount. Only leave in hair for 5-10 minutes with one of those plastic shower caps on. Then rinse well in COOL water. If you use hot water it will heat up the oil and make it hard to remove. If you are trying to repair damaged hair, I suggest fresh avacado. Just mash it up and leave on hair for 10-15 minutes. If your hair is really dry, add a few drops of honey to the avacado. Rinse well in COOL water. It really works, I am a hair stylist. Always apply to wet hair after a good shampoo. Good Luck!

almond oil works better. it is better used after letting it heat in a hot water bath. apply to the roots and lenghts and massage the scalp for about 15 minutes. Then wrap a hot towel on the head. shampoo and condition. you cant get satisfactory results from the first time-do it as often as you can.

I think using a hair oil product would be better, but if you want to use olive oil lather in your shampoo BEFORE you wet your hair... remember oil and water don't mix.

OH god, do not do this to yourself. It's the same as mayonaisse - messy %26amp; it doesn't work. If you want a home technique, go to a natural store %26amp; buy Jojoba oil ( ho-ho-ba). Otherwise, I use Ouidad's deep treatment for my hair, as do my friends %26amp; their hair is straight, because it works. www. ouidad.com

Good Luck
