call up a salon and talk to them about it, they will give you massive information about taming your hair while keeping it healthy, if they don't they're buttholes.

If you start to straighten your hair like twice every two to four hours with a straightening iron or by brushing it alot with a high quality brush, then it will start to straighten.

Talk to a hair dresser.

You can either straighten it or use lots of heavy products that weigh your hair down and preventing it from curling. or use "straightening gels"

That's why when it is damp you like it because the hair is being weighed down.

I have very curly hair too, mine is to the middle of my back, but I have the same problem. People always ask me if I cut my hair cuz it'll poof up to my shoulders.

I usually mix water and lustrasilk moisture max (not a lot) and distribute it in my hair, and then a combo of mousse (I use fructis... but whatever mousse you use, make sure its not for "volume") and gel depending on what look I want to achieve.

Another thing, if you wash your hair every day, or every other day, be sure to use a good conditioner and even deep condition it once and a while. Good for the curls and avoids the dead ends.
