What is the best way to straighten thick curly hair? I have done it myself with my 3 inch flat iron,it was so frizzy!!!!!!! and fro like i wont do it again!!!!! ANY THTOUGHTS ON THIS,THANKS

I have hair like you. Mine is very thick and very frizzy. What i do is:

Firstly i wash my hair with a straightening shampoo - http://stonehairdressing.co.uk/catalog/i...

Then i use a serum which is meant to help control frizz, it works well on my hair - http://www.asos.com/images/inv/K/9/231/1...

Then i use a product which is meant to hold straight hair in place - http://www.beautybay.com/assets/images/p...

After that i then blow dry my hair, blowing the air down from the roots of my hair to the bottom tips of my hair, this stops your hair from blowing about everywhere and stopping it frizzing so much.

Then i use a protective spray to stop my hair from getting damaged and creating split ends which would make my hair even more frizzy. I use this one - http://www.beautybay.com/assets/images/p...

I then use GHD straighteners, they are the best straighteners for people with hair like use, they heat up to 240 degrees. They have the best plate that you can find on straighteners, and they don't snag on any hairs, or pull any out. - http://www.girlznight.co.uk/images/u/ghd... - I have those, but i would recommend you to use these - http://www.joandcass.co.uk/images/salon-... - which are also GHDs but because they have a bigger plate, it makes it a lot quicker for you to straighten your hair.

Then after straightening my hair i then spray it lightly with Hair Spray, this routene works for me, i hope you find this helpful.

hi. i am puerto rican and have insane curly hair probably a lot like yours. the only way that i can get my hair to straighten is by getting it blow dried out by a professional. flat irons don't work on my hair the only way is to have someone yank at my hair for about an hour. it hurts like a ***** but it looks so hot when its done. if done right it will last for a few days.

u could go to ur local hairdresser and ask for it to be straightened, use and strightener, no frizz shampoo %26amp; conditoner, straightening products, or even view mine, ive basically asked the same question so check out the answers ppl have given me.

Iron it with an iron, I have very thick hair too, so i ironed it and it worked it wasn't frizzy or nothing like that.

go to a professinal styalsit and ask her what solution ar shampoo is best for your hair type, or even an iron you can invest into.

a great iron to buy is the fhi.

i got the fhi for my cousin and she has EXTREMELY frizzy hair and she used it and her hair came out flawless.

and best of all she has had it for a long time, and it still works like when she used it on day one.

Maybe you weren't using a good straightener...if you have thick curly hair, not all straighteners, especially cheaper ones, are going to work very well. A really good straightener is the Chi...but if you're looking for something cheaper there is one at Walmart called Andis that actually works pretty well. There are also products out there (shampoos, serums, etc.) that are designed to make sure your hair doesn't frizz and stays straight.

use a shampoo and conditioner that promotes straight hair. i use straighten up by sunsilk and have noticed a difference. then blow it out straight first ... as straight as you can. use a GOOD flatiron that gets really hot, i got a Chi which is said to cause less damage and gets a smoother look. use a product to protect it from the heat before you flat iron it. and then to smooth the stray hairs and frizzy spots i use a small amount of pommade.

ok. so. first you have to seperate your hair into sections, like i do 1/4 of my hair at a time. i put it in dog ears then i take the bottom half of one side and straighten it. since you have curly hair, i would get the tresemme heat protection spray to use on you hair, it will make it steam but it works really good for me. i also use hair spray on the sections and then straighten it and that really makes it straight for me.

Japanese or Brasilian straightening, its costly but it can last up to a year. Do a web search to see if anyone in your area does this.
