My daughter uses a Wet/Dry straightener, and this works wonders.. We got ours at Walmart for around 24 bucks.. you can straightener your hair wet or dry.. we love it..

There's something called the flat iron, and hairstylers own those, which straighten up your hair. I used one of those, and my hair was straight until I washed it.
I would recommend that you buy a good quality set of hair irons. I recently purchased some ghd straighteners and although they were quite expensive they work very well and should help tame your curls.
